2011 Birthday Wish List

Because my birthday is coming up, I am now posting my birthday wish list. Perhaps you’re a good soul who’ll send me one of these? Hahaha!

1. Seagate 1TB Portable HDD

Because my 500GB is almost full. And I have files scattered across my dad’s laptop, my friend’s HD, another friend’s flash disk, and even my office computer. Sssshhh!

2. Fit Flops

Because I heard they were really comfy and when I tried this on, my friend said it looked good on me.

3. Plueys

Because it always rains in the PH and it always floods in our area.

4. Watch

Because I love the color green and this watch is just awesome! Although I’d still take one with similar style even if it’s not Swatch.

5. Books

Because I love books and it’s been a while since I last read one. I have yet to buy these titles. But it would be better if I receive them as gifts. Hahaha!

6. Forever 21 Clothes

Because I love Forever 21! And I especially like those below. Or anything with a similar style.

Thai at Silk

Nothing to do and nowhere to go on a Friday night. So together with my two girlies, L and R, we decided to just have dinner at one of their favorite places. It would be my first time to eat at Thai at Silk and they assured me I wouldn’t be disappointed. I wasn’t.

Thai at Silk, Unit 1C12 Ground Level Serendra Piazza Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

For the soup, we got the Tom Yum Kung. It was super spicy and I loved it. First sip and I was inlove! It was hot and sour and ginger-y with hints of mint. It had prawns, mushrooms, tomatoes, ginger, lemongrass, and other stuff I couldn’t really identify. You will never go wrong with this. The picture below is just my personal bowl. Multiply that amount by 3 and that’s the whole serving.

Tom Yum Kung, Php 310

Cho Chee Kung plus Roti was served next. Minced prawn in reduced red curry sauce came with Roti bread. The sauce was absolutely heavenly. The minced prawn made all the difference in the curry sauce. It’s a nice deviation form the usual plain yellow curry sauce. Sweet and salty to the taste.

Cho Chee Kung plus Roti, Php 310

Next is the Pad Thai. I never really liked the Pad Thai from other restaurants, even at Soms. The only one I liked was that of Crustasia’s. At first sight, Thai at Silk’s version totally nails it. It’s presentation was unique and very beautiful. And the taste, just right.

Pad Thai (before and after), Php 400

We also ordered the Pla lad Prik Sam Ros, which is deep fried fish fillet (I’m guessing Cream Dory) in tamarind chili sauce. The fish was normal, but the tamarind sauce was really nice. A nice blend of sweet and sour. But then it’s not spicy at all!

Pla lad Prik Sam Ros, Php 425

Lastly, we simply can’t miss L and R’s favorite, the Kung Sarong. This is deep fried prawns wrapped in egg noodles. The dipping sauce is vinegar with cucumbers. The prawns were big but I think they were a little dry. The dipping sauce wasn’t much help to elevate the taste. I love prawns. Prawns are always good but this dish right here, it’s not really exceptional. Or maybe my expectations were just too high since they were raving so much about this.

Kung Sarong, Php 450

I ordered the Thai Milk Tea for my drink. I usually order this in Thai restaurants and I’ve always liked it. This version though, not so much. It was a little too strong. But it was really very lovely to look at.

Thai Milk Tea, Php 155

There were hits and there were misses. But overall, I can still say it’s a wonderful experience. And I’d still want to go back and try the other stuff they offer. But not too soon though. Burns a hole in my wallet.

Lomography – 1st Shots

I have a Holga 120 CFN (I named him Benjie), which I bought in 2008. I got it from Amazon, I think and had it shipped to a friend’s officemate who was in the States that time and he brought it home with him. Wherever you are, thank you again. It came with a Lomo bag, which I have no idea where it is now (the bag, I mean). I bought 120mm films at City Super in Hong Kong while on a business trip on August of that year. I got them for HKD33 each. Here, they sell for PHP258 (If I remember it right.) a roll. I did some shots through 2009 but never got around to having them processed. That time, it was still very expensive. So I eventually forgot about them and they gathered dust somewhere in the mess of my room back home.

Fast forward to the present, I don’t exactly remember how, but I got into a discussion about lomography with my teammate. He said he wanted to buy a camera and I suggested he get a Holga. We talked about films, effects, and all that. So I remembered my unprocessed films. I asked him to take them to Digiprint and have them processed together with his films. So I received my package yesterday and I excitedly looked at my shots. Some actually turned out great. Not bad for a first timer. Here are some of my first shots:

Somewhere in Batangas

At the Mactan International Airport in Cebu

My favorite shot! At the Karis Retreat House in Tagaytay

Bantayan Island

Inside a temple in Cebu

Plantation Bay

Batangas again

There. I have renewed love for lomography after seeing that my first shots are successful. My officemate and I are planning on a photo shoot sometime this month. Ugh. Such an expensive hobby. But the rewards are worth it. Gotta save up for those films. Yey!

Nakakainis Part 2

Or better yet, bumili ka sarili mong sasakyan!

In relation to public transportation pa rin, nakakainis yung mga walang pakialam na nagpapatugtog ng malakas while inside elevators and public transportation. Cellphones are on loud, walang earphones. Wala kayo pambili ng earphones? Do you really have to torture us with your type of music? Well, it actually doesn’t matter what genre you’re listenging to. It’s just not right. Then patay malisya pa talaga, na parang wala silang ginagawang kakaiba. Damn you!

On other news, nakakainis yung naliligo ka tapos maririnig mo may nagtext sa’yo at dahil excited ka, lumabas ka talaga ng banyo habang water is dripping all over the place only to find out na yung service provider mo lang pala ang nagtext sa’yo.

I can take whatever they throw at me. I can hold my ground and throw a few punches of my own. It ain’t fair. And it makes you gay. No offense to homosexuals who have more balls than these pikon people.

Nakakainis yung mga taong nambibitin. No, not that kind of pambibitin, you green minded, you! Yung io-open yung topic tapos biglang magbabago isip. May gustong sabihin pero sabay babawiin din. Ayan na eh. You piqued my curiosity already. Parang sadyang ayaw kang patulugin. To hell with your beauty sleep para pangit ka kinabukasan kagaya nila.

Ayan. Sana wala nang part 3. Masyado na akong maraming issue sa buhay. Tama na ‘yan. Hehehe! 😀

Movies I Watched In July

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

I had to start watching all the HP movies since I promised a friend I’d watch the last installment with her. Ugh. But after watching this first one, I’d say it’s not that bad naman. It’s nice to finally watch the stuff I used to only hear/read about. Wingardium Leviosa!

2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The trio noticeably grew up in this movie. Hindi na sila masyadong cute. Except for Ron. Hahaha!

3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Hindi ko nahulaan ang twist dito. Ang galing. Hehe.

4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I was waiting kasi saang movie s’ya lalabas. At nashock ako namatay pala si Cedric dito. I think I cried. I think lang.

5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Parang puro salita eh.

6. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Snape! Yun lang. Hahaha!

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Hindi ko na masyadong naintindihan ‘to since I was way sleepy na. I think I started watching 1AM already.

8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

IMAX! I super love him! Haaay. I loved this last movie. Parang after this, fan na ako. Must read the books.

9. Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Yes, again. But this time on IMAX. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it!

Oh yes, it’s Harry Potter month!
